This is the tale of a crazed ocean sailor, his wife, their two young children and their 65 year old yacht as they race across the Atlantic Ocean to cruise the Caribbean, Bahamas and Eastern Seaboard of the USA before returning home across The Pond.

Here's a shot of James in the single hander race of the Sweethearts of the Caribbean regatta, Tortola, February 2013:
Croix des Gardes sets off in Tortola single hander race
Hi, saw CdG in Newport Wed/Thur last week when we moored at an Ida Lewis mooring for the night. Of course she is lovely and so we took some pictures as we slipped away in the morning. Being a bit crazed too I have now read the entire blog which is wonderful for a sense of things and particularly the cross over passages on the East Coast from the Bahamas, Chesapeake, New York and Long Island Sound. One day we may give it a go to be in Europe. The life style collage of sabbatical, engineering, flying, photography, environmentalism and dark music is really special. So thank you very much for sharing and have a safe passage home, truly.
It's a great photograph. She looks very big for a single handed James but by definition pilot cutters are supposed to sail single handed back to port. Dad XX
Lucky she's not a pilot cutter then! If you look carefully, you can spot the permitted safety crew aboard. It is Matthew's yellow cap visible from the doghouse.
Stunning photo Sarah. It is now the wallpaper on my computer after having the lovely one of Elizabeth with a little boy supported by caring arms and hands peering at ? on a pier in Barbados. It has been much admired by visitors to the house.
